“The two Super Auctions in 2009 demonstrated the fun and excitement that occurs when you have a dozen auctioneers in one place all doing what they do best,” said David Helmer, The Super Auction manager. “We are excited that as a kick off for this year we will welcome in National Auctioneers Association Board of Director Robert Mayo from Kansas City Missouri. Robert is a good friend and champion bid caller and will bring his style and skill to the event.”

“The Super Auction will now be a regular event that the auction community can depend on as a consistent venue to buy and sell,” noted Peter Gehres, The Super Auction assistant manager. “The first two Super Auctions saw bidders from ten states and we expect that to increase that in 2010. Unquie Propeller flying across the block at The Super Auction

Jade Montrie of Montrie Auction & Estate Service LLC. will have two sessions in the inaugural Super Auction on February 28, 2009 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They will be offering an eclectic mix of paper, smalls, military and sports memorabilia. Many of the items have some interesting, informative history.

One of these items is a small wooden airplane propeller. The propeller was listed on the Super Auction site and Montrie received an email from an auction goer who thought this might be a rare, WWII non-piloted drone airplane propeller. Based on the emailer's hunch, research was done on the maker and serial number of the prop and we found this was one of the "drone" propellers.

"This item is one of the great joys of begin an auctioneer," commented Montrie. "We knew the propeller was not your standard propeller and after doing a some research after a tip from our pool of informed buyers we discovered this propeller was piece of aviation history. It is stories like this that make auctioneering such a enjoyable and interesting profession."

A piece of OSU/Michigan history at The Super Auction

A unique piece of OSU verse Michigan history will be sold at the inaugural Super Auction on February 28, 2009 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Ann Arbor, MI. A football program from the 1952 game between OSU and Michigan played in Ohio Stadium is being sold by Auctioneer Jade Montrie of Montrie Auction & Estate Service L.L.C.

"This program and the game it was sold at represents Woody Hayes' first victory over Michigan and came at a critical time in the young coach's career," commented Montrie. "This item is a must have for any college football or Big Ten Football collector."

Woody Hayes was one of the most well known coaches in college football and coached at Ohio State from 1951 - 1978 and along with Bo Schembechler built the OSU/Michigan rivalry into one of the greats in all of sports.

The football program is one of over 1400 items that are scheduled to cross the block at The Super Auction. The paper and ephemera session (one of fifteen in the Auction) represents a speciality area of Montrie's larger auction, estates, and Real Estate business.

"This is great item to have in The Super Auction because it is both interesting and accessible to a number of collectors," added Peter Gehres, Super Auction assistant manager. "Given that we have auctioneers from Ann Arbor, Michigan and Columbus, Ohio participating in The Super Auction the subject of football is often discussed and this program brings everything full circle.
