A rare and signed book, Reminiscences by General Douglas MacArthur, will cross the auction block at the first Super Auction on February 28, 2009 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The book is one of 1750 copies signed by the author, who died the same year of publication and signed only part of the edition. Numbers 200 and under were signed by MacArthur's hand and the remaining copies were signed by his wife. This book is numbered #174 and is in fine condition. Bound in cream stamped in gilt, in protective slipcase showing some wear.
"This is a great piece of American history and the final book by one of America's longest serving and most accomplished and controversial Generals," said David Helmer of Braun and Helmer Auction Service. Helmer is one of over a dozen auctioneers from eight auction companies that will over 1400 lots on February 28.
